  • Facebook Sunsets Special Ad Audiences in October

    Facebook Sunsets Special Ad Audiences in October

    Facebook will no longer allow Special Ad Category advertisers to use the Special Ad Audiences tool.

    Meta will be sunsetting Special Ad Audiences, a tool that lets advertisers expand their audiences for ad campaigns related to housing, employment, and credit ads.

    In 2019, in addition to eliminating specific targeting options for housing, employment, and credit ads, Facebook introduced Special Ad Audiences as an alternative to Lookalike Audiences.

    Since the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Special Ad Category advertisers must declare their category before creating ads. If advertisers fail to declare it, the Facebook policy team shuts down their advertising accounts.

    Now, it’s getting more limited with this new rule.

    Deprecation Timeline

    Following is the timeline from Meta regarding the deprecation of Special Ad Audiences:

    1. August 25, 2022: you will no longer be able to create new Special Ad Audiences.
    2. September 13, 2022: Special Ad Audiences will no longer be available in new ad creation via the API.
    3. October 12, 2022: Special ad audiences will no longer be available in new ad creation across Ads Manager and the API. After this date, the affected ad sets may be paused for delivery. To resume delivery of the paused ad sets, you will need to update them to remove Special Ad Audiences.

    According to this timeline, you’ll no longer be able to use Special Ad Audiences in new ads via the API on September 13 and Ads Manager on October 12.

    How can the Special Ad Category advertisers benefit from Facebook after this update?

    It’s still unclear if Facebook is going to introduce a new way or release some restrictions for Special Ad Category advertisers or not.

    That said, the only option is to go broad audience. However, some other options still benefit from the Facebook advertising platform. I will prepare some tips and tactics. Please keep an eye on Digital Boom for more.

  • How to include search results from pages in WordPress?

    How to include search results from pages in WordPress?

    WordPress is an open-source CMS known for blogging and news websites, which relies on posts more than pages. The default search function returns results from posts only, but not from pages.

    The WordPress search function will be useless for evergreen content websites as they are built using pages, not posts.

    So how to make the WordPress search function return results from pages instead of posts?

    Fortunately, there’s a solution for this without hiring a developer.

    Simple, go to WordPress Dashboard -> Select Theme File Editor under Appearance -> from the right-hand sidebar, select Functions.php file – add the following code to the very end of the file -> Save.

    Now, test your WP Search function. You will notice that search results do now return with results from pages.

    function wpshock_search_filter( $query ) {
        if ( $query->is_search ) {
            $query->set( 'post_type', array('post','page') );
        }
        return $query;
    }
    add_filter('pre_get_posts','wpshock_search_filter');

  • Where to watch House of the Dragon online in MENA

    Where to watch House of the Dragon online in MENA

    Want to learn more about the story of House Targaryen? HBO series House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, will debut on OSN+ on August 22.

    The new fantasy drama takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It details the rise of the Targaryen family to the Iron Throne.

    This new HBO series is promising to be nothing short of extravagant. House of the Dragon is considered George R. R. Martin’s first return to the screen since he created Game of Thrones in the last decade. Martin has kept followers up to date by publishing his digital entries from time to time. “The look of it is great, and the acting, the directing, and writing are the first rate. And yes, for all you book fans, it IS my story. Sure, there are some changes from FIRE & BLOOD— but I think Ryan Condal and his writers made good choices. Even some improvements.”

    Since he was heavily involved in the “making of,” literature fans will enjoy this one, too. But they won’t be the only ones; fans of menacing dragons will also get to see what Westeros looks like when the skies are teaming with them. It’s safe to say it’s expected to be an epic series. One that has everything from mystical dragon wars to the gruesome violence and epic stunts we’ve grown to love.

    Another point worth mentioning about the series is they’ve gone all out with the cast, bringing a very diverse and unique collective who complements the show’s setting. The cast includes Paddy Considine (HBO’s The Third Day and The Outsider), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint (It’s a Sin, Doctor Who), Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, and Rhys Ifans. Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, John Macmillan, and Graham McTavish round out the cast.

    The show has ten episodes and starts on OSN+ and OSN Showcase at the same time and date as in the US. The first show will be at 5 a.m. GST on August 22, but it will be shown again at 9 p.m. on OSN Showcase.

  • Reject non-business emails from Webflow form submission

    Reject non-business emails from Webflow form submission

    Lead generation forms are essential for B2B companies to get in touch with potential customers. Yet, they sometimes may put more burdens on sales teams because of the irrelevant users.

    B2B companies must filter users from the beginning; the easiest way is to obtain their corporate email. Not all of us tend to use our corporate emails in filling out online forms, it’s a habit, and no one can change it, yet, you can force change that behavior by rejecting personal emails from passing your forms.

    The problem is that web forms are built to accept all domains, and making that restriction to business emails is an advanced step that requires extra technical work.

    Today, we will explain how to customize your Webflow website to reject personal emails and allow only users with corporate emails to submit your forms.

    How to reject personal emails from submitting your Webflow forms?

    To prevent personal emails from reaching your CRM, copy/paste the following code after the body tags on your page that contains the contact form.

    We’ve added the most common free email services to reject them. If you would like to add more domains, all you need to do is edit this rule (?!gmail.com)add your desired domain and then add it after +@ In line 5. This will ensure that anyone with @domain will not be able to submit your form.

    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function(e) {
    $('#submit-home').click(function() {
    var email = $('#Email').val();
    var reg = /^([\w-\.]+@(?!gmail.com)(?!mail.com)(?!gmil.com)(?!gamil.com)(?!gamail.com)(?!yahoo.com)(?!hotmail.com)(?!yahoo.co.in)(?!gmail.con)(?!aol.com)(?!abc.com)(?!xyz.com)(?!pqr.com)(?!rediffmail.com)(?!live.com)(?!outlook.com)(?!me.com)(?!msn.com)(?!ymail.com)([\w-]+\.)+[\w-]{2,4})?$/;
    if (reg.test(email)) {
    return 0;
    } else {
    alert('Por favor ingresa tu dirección de correo empresarial');
    return false;
    }
    });
    });
    </script>

  • Egypt’s PraxiLabs is taking science education to a new level through 3D simulations

    Egypt’s PraxiLabs is taking science education to a new level through 3D simulations

    Egyptian startup PraxiLabs offers people equal opportunities to access an enhanced science education by providing 3D interactive virtual simulations that are safe, affordable, and accessible anytime, anywhere, for educational institutions and students alike.

    Founded by Khadija El-Bedweihy in 2016, PraxiLabs is an online learning platform providing interactive science labs for students, even enabling scientific experiments that are not doable in the actual lab.

    “While many educational areas have benefited and progressed through ed-tech, the labs’ situation remained “as is.” It is important to get hands-on experience, and this went neglected for a long time,” Khadija said ElBedweihy, founder and CEO of PraxiLabs.

    “Now, with simulations, students get very close to the real experience and practice as much as possible so that they make the best out of it once they have a chance to get into a real lab, or even if students don’t get into the real lab, they will have still learned, experienced and practiced a very real-life-like environment.”

    “Our initial aim was to create brand awareness and for people to get to know PraxiLabs,” ElBedweihy said. “Things have increased heavily since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and there is increased demand for online learning. Until today, more than 65,000 students have benefited from our labs.”

    PraxiLabs is currently serving B2B customers in seven countries – Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United States (US), Peru, the United Kingdom (UK), Singapore, and Thailand – and planning further expansion.

    “We aim to grow into the African markets, further grow in the Americas and Europe, and expand further into Asia,” said ElBedweihy. The startup also has B2C users in 160 countries.

    All of this has been achieved with relatively little funding. PraxiLabs raised US$150,000 after taking part in the Norway-based Katapult Accelerator in 2018. but beyond that is self-funded. ElBedweihy said it is in the process of raising a round of investment and has some soft commitments from some angels.

    “We are still looking for the right VC as we are interested in the cash and the right network, experience, and understanding of the ed-tech industry,” she said.
