  • A Message From ‘Jordan Belfort’ Wolf Of Wall Street To Egyptians

A Message From ‘Jordan Belfort’ Wolf Of Wall Street To Egyptians

Jordan Belfort or the Wolf of Wall Street sent a message to Egyptians warning them from a fraudster who’s promoting a fake seminar in December that he’s supposed to speak at.

Belfort argued Egyptians who bought tickets to the seminar to ask for a refund immediately or call the police to arrest the promoter.

The seminar event on Facebook has disappeared right after Belfort’s warning post, the identity of the promoter remains unclear.

Here’s a transcript of what Jordan Belfort said in his message if you can’t see the embedded Facebook post

“THIS IS AN UPDATE ON A SEMINAR IN EGYPT THIS DECEMBER THAT I AM SUPPOSEDLY SPEAKING AT:

Anyone who has bought tickets or was thinking about buying tickets to this event, I want you to know that I am not — I repeat, I AM NOT SPEAKING AT THIS EVENT. The promoter is a fraud and continues to lie to me every day, swearing money was sent. If you bought a ticket, you need to ask for a refund immediately. If the promoter won’t give you one, you should call the local police and get this asshole arrested. This is a total fraud and I alerting the local Egyptian newspapers and news shows.
Please share this post with all your friends and ask them to do the same. Also, if you know anyone in the Egyptian media, please let them know whats going on. If a reporter contacts me, I will give them an interview about this.
The quicker word gets out about this, the less money this idiot will be able to squander before he gets arrested,
    Thanks,
    JB”

Digital Media Forum Back to Cairo for the 3rd Year in a Row

The Digital Media Forum is coming back to Cairo on October 19th, in the heart of downtown at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel. The highly anticipated event is filling up quickly as is its agenda, promising a packed day of insights into the future of the digital media industry.

Coming all the way from Dubai, the regional conference has established itself as a staple event on the calendar of top media professionals in the Arab world. This year, SpotOn is partnering with The Worx emc, the Egyptian company specialized in event management consultancy. DMF was founded by Najla Mazboudi, a media veteran who is armed with over 30 years of experience and connections that enable her and her team to provide an impressive speaker lineup that exceeds expectations every year.

This year’s keynote will be given by Mary Keane-Dawson, Managing Director Neo@Ogilvy in the UK, in addition to key industry executives from the region such as Mazen Hayek, MBC Group’s Official Spokesman, Kinda Ibrahim, Director of Media Partnerships for MENA at Twitter, and Amy Kean, Regional Director Mindshare APAC in Singapore.

Under the theme of the Future Re-Starts, DMF sheds the light on many topics that concern all media experts not only in the Middle East but around the world. What is the future of TV? What’s working and not working on social media? And how to attract the attention of audiences and reach them in a highly competitive and fragmented market?

“Understanding digital is no longer an added advantage, it’s a priority,” says Mazboudi, “consumers are migrating year after year to digital and if you’re not there, don’t understand how to stand out in the online clutter and reach your target audience, you will definitely fall behind.”

DMF will not only be a chance to learn from some of the industry’s greatest experiences, but also the place to be to network and learn from some of the top industry players from the region who are already taking part in the forum such as:

  • Marketing Kingdom Cairo 2: 10 Marketing Tips That Actually Work

Marketing Kingdom Cairo 2: 10 Marketing Tips That Actually Work

In exactly one month, from 26-27 October, Egyptian marketers will have the unique opportunity to hear groundbreaking presentations by marketing gurus from some of the world’s biggest brands. With Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google and Sony Music hitting the stage, the Marketing Kingdom Cairo 2 is all about real life conversations with each other.

To get a taste of Egypt’s biggest marketing event this year, we put together 10 tips by some of the marketing innovators scheduled to present at the event on 26 and 27 October at the Fairmont Towers Hotel in Cairo.

    Enjoy!

    1.     Don’t Accept the Acceptable: As hackneyed as it sounds: dare to disrupt, and dare to disrupt yourself in particular. Scan the conventions in the market and try to break with them in order to identify and optimize new whitespace opportunities. To many, the term disruption could generate a feeling of distress, and that is fine. It actually should feel uncomfortable and a little off. Besides that, we often mistake disruption for transformative and costlytechnological change. However, disruption does not have to be costly, it is a mind-set that looks past restrictions that have been set by industry processes and familiarity. (Darre Van Dijk, TBWA Amsterdam, Netherlands)

    2.     Information is not power anymore- actions are what will give you the edge. (Mohammed El Sharkawy, Unilever Hair Care, UK)

Think and act mobile –  Consumers are spending a significant amount of their day on mobile in mobile apps.  This makes it a great place to attract attention, deliver a relevant message and to drive business results. (Ian Manning, Facebook, UAE)
    4.     Think Mobile Video –  In today’s fast paced world, consumers want relevant, targeted messages and are able to determine the key message in a fraction of second and remember key outtakes in a matter of seconds.  So in a mobile world, we are able to deliver meaningful messages in only seconds, potentially changing the way we think about advertising.     (Ian Manning, Facebook, UAE)

    5.     Digital transformation is driven, not by technology or data, but by strong leadership, a well-understood strategy as well as the people and culture.(Kelvin Lee, Thomson Reuters, UK)

    6.     If you want to have r-e-a-l success with your video – make sure you do it with the right set of KPIs. (Magnus Zaar, Think Agency, Sweden)

    7.    Measure everything: but keep measurement simple and aim to track performance against sales and brand metrics whatever platform your campaign runs on. (Tim McLoughlin, Hotels.com, UK)

    8.     Strive for progress before perfection (Maksimilian Kalhed, The Pop Up Agency, UK)

    9.     Your reputation is driven by perception on all channels. Focus on it and manage it on all channels.  (Khaled Ismail, Tetra Pak, UAE)

    1. Multitasking is a myth, Focus is king/queen. (Abraham Asefaw, The Pop Up Agency, UK)

  • Darre Van Dijk From TBWA Amsterdam: Kill Boring!

Darre Van Dijk From TBWA Amsterdam: Kill Boring!

Darre Van Dijk, Chief Creative Officer of TBWA/Neboko in Amsterdam is one of the keynote speakers at the Marketing Kingdom Cairo 2, Egypt’s biggest international marketing event, taking place from 26-27 October at the Fairmont Towers in Cairo.

Before joining TBWA Darre was chief creative officer at Ogilvy & Mather Amsterdam, Euro RSCG, DMB&B and was creative partner at the small local agency Amsterdam Advertising. His personal award list so far includes over 170 awards, of which 12 Cannes Lions including a Grand Prix. Darre is also responsible for the well-known campaign ‘Why wait until it’s too late’ for funeral insurance company DELA who became the Dutch advertiser of the year in 2012. The campaign is one of the most awarded campaigns in Dutch history.

We recently asked Darre to share with us, 5 tips for marketers in Egypt!

     Tip 1: Kill boring!

One way to compete with the daily information stimuli’s that consumers deal with is to avoid communicating too corporate and strained. Dig into topics that appeal to your target market, whether it is House of Cards on Netflix or watching cat videos on YouTube. Moreover, step away from the conventions in your branch and dare to tell your story differently.

Tip 2: Use technology and data to be engaging

People – and perhaps millennials in particular – love gadgets, technological developments and other innovations. If these can be put to use in a relevant way your brand will be able to distinguish itself from the masses of information that consumers filter through on a daily basis. Moreover, big data can provide surprising insights that can form the basis for relevance regarding the stories brands want to tell.

Tip 3: Tell authentic stories that play on people’s emotions

The time has come to really get to know your customer. Forget– even if it is just for a minute – what your brand seeks to communicate to the rest of the world. Focus instead on what it is your customer needs or seeks to experience. How can your brand do something that is meaningful, authentic and leaves a lasting impact on the customer? This might mean that the story you should tell, is not directly related to your brand and the product it sells. And that is ok, as long as it remains relevant.

Tip 4: Show guts by being vulnerable

In our well-connected and progressively transparent world, it becomes increasingly difficult to keep control of the messages that circulate around your brand.  While brands are learning to deal with this phenomenon, it remains that they are naturally inclined to keep a firm hold of the reins. Loosening these reinsand accepting, perhaps even welcoming transparency, portrays guts and authenticity that will be appreciated.

Tip 5: Don’t Accept the Acceptable

As hackneyed as it sounds: dare to disrupt, and dare to disrupt yourself in particular. The following case illustrates how Apple, one of the most innovative companies in the world, continues to be a game changer through simplistic, yet disruptive thinking over a wide spectrum.

  • Five Golden Rules For A Successful Video Marketing Strategy

Five Golden Rules For A Successful Video Marketing Strategy

Magnus Zar, Founder of Think Agency and Sweden and one of Europe’s biggest experts on video marketing is speaking at the Marketing Kingdom Cairo 2, Egypt’s most anticipated marketing event, taking place from 26-27 October at the Fairmont Towers in Cairo.

Prior to starting Think Agency he was the Director of Television at Aftonbladet, Sweden’s leading news provider, with more than 3.2 million daily users (in a country of 9 million). 1. Video is not an option – it’s a must. (Tomorrow’s main communication on line will be video – in all forms and shapes. And for all functions…)
    2. Don’t be click bait opportunistic – the video transition is a process, not a project
    3. If you want to have r-e-a-l success with your video – make sure you do it with the right set of KPIs
    4. Be platform agnostic. Be platform specific
    5. Be serious about you video. It’s your future

  • 8 Big Ideas from Socialbakers Engage Prague 2016

8 Big Ideas from Socialbakers Engage Prague 2016

Leading marketing professionals from around the world gathered for the four-day Engage Prague 2016, listening to topnotch speakers from major brands and agencies alongside the social analytics leaders from Socialbakers. To share experiences and stay abreast of the insights into social marketing trends, successful marketing campaigns, showcases the newest tools and even more.

See also: The 10 Most Watched Ads Globally on YouTube in April 2016

It’s unfair to summarize such a huge gathering in one article, but here’s a list of eight important ideas from the event and may inspire you to improve your business performance before end of 2016.

    1. If you’re talking to your customers via comments, STOP

Numbers have shown 80% of Facebook users are happy with brands that interact with them via massages. People feel special, important and free if you took the conversation in private. It’s also better to talk over facebook messages rather than discussing customers personal issues in public. Try to take the conversation to messages once it’s getting personal.

    2. Bots, Bots, Bots

Are you a publisher and you still don’t have a bot? Your readers may not be yours anymore. Start creating your facebook messenger bot now

    3. Influencers NOW are the most important channel to sell or grow, choose them Carefully

Many brands are moving from the traditional digital advertising to hiring online influencers, in order to sell their products in a native way, and use influncers’ trust power as referrals to grow fan base. This strategy has proven success on different platforms, especially on Instagram.

    4. Outsourcing social media content is a FATAL mistake

Most social media agencies do not understand your products/services better than your employees. So why investing in an agency while you can own the best in-house? You just need to train them right, and hire a digital mind to lead and success will follow.

    5. Do not boost any content before making sure your customers love it

It’s a common mistake, many brands boost all their social media posts/tweets, this results in wasting budget waste on bad content, and losing the opportunity to support good content with bigger budget. There’re even worser results such as “page unlikes, hiding all your future posts) in addition to hiding the promoted content they don’t like and result in increasing cost in future sponsored content.

    6. Do not forget the small details like Thumbnail

Digital is all about visuals. Let’s say that you’re offering the best product or service, the question is, how to appeal to customers in order to click and read about it? Simply, attract their eyes, try to use eye-catchy images, and display them right by learning more about each platform thumbnail dimensions.

    7. No more customer care over phone calls

49% of customer inquires are now handled over social media and 18.6% over digital marketing. Traditional customer care is declining due to the penetration of internet and online customer care. Develop your processes and expand your social customer care teams.

    8. Use music every time and everywhere in your ads, 97% of marketers around the word agreed on this

Music is the world number one language, it builds strong bonds and keep you on the top of customer mind. Use it effectively.

Worth mentioning that STC KSA awarded as the best customer care via twitter in the World, CONGRATS! They replied to around 4 million requests in less than 4 minutes.
