  • Create a click-to-text link that starts SMS ‘HTML examples’

Create a click-to-text link that starts SMS ‘HTML examples’

Links are not restricted to web pages; they can initiate phone calls and emails, but not everyone knows that it could be to start an SMS conversation.

You can launch an email using “href=mailto:[email protected].” You can also start a phone call using “href=” tel:+201000766661.” – But you might not know that you can launch the SMS app on your website visitors’ phones or desktops (Apple only) with an HTML link.

With the help of HTML, it’s possible to create a hyperlink that sends an SMS message. You can even prepopulate the SMS body text via the link! So, if you wish to add a new method to start conversations with your customers, this article is for you. Here’s how.

How to create a click-to-text SMS hyperlink?

All you need is to use the <a> tag and set the attribute value with “sms://” just as in the following examples:

How to implement it in WordPress or Webflow?

It differs from one CMS to another. Here’s how to implement link-to-text HTML in WordPress or Webflow.

WordPress Classic Editor: there are two ways to implement a link-to-text action to open an SMS in WordPress.

    1. Switch to the text editor instead of the visual editor, insert the link above, and customize the anchor text according to your case.
    2. Highlight the text that you wish to convert into a link to SMS, click the link icon in your editor bar, then insert SMS://+phone number

Webflow: insert “text link or any link element; in the URL field, insert the SMS:// in addition to the phone number you want to receive the message, like this: sms://+20100076661 directly without the rest of the code. Webflow will add the hidden HTML code for you.

    Prepopulate SMS body text

On most mobile phones, clicking this link will open a new message screen prepopulated with the shortcode or your business texting number.

And When a visitor taps on the following link with a body on a smartphone, a new text message will open with a pre-filled recipient and message content as follows:

    To work on iOS

    <a href="sms:00201000766661&amp;body=Thank you for the SMS tip">Test Preview, pre-populate body text</a>

Another version where you can use it directly in a link field: sms:00201000766661&body=Thank you for the SMS tip

To work on Android and iOS

    <a href="sms:00201000766661?body=thank you">Link</a>

Another version where you can use it directly in a link field: sms:00201000766661&amp?body=thank you

Test Preview on iOS, prepopulate body text

Test Preview on Android, prepopulate body text

    Hope this helps.

YouTube launches critical alerts, tests updated format for channel navigation

YouTube has launched critical alerts to notify creators when performance drops significantly, along with an updated format for channel navigation to help channels’ creators boost their analytics.

    Critical alert

    Credit: Youtube

The new critical alert function provides channel creators with indications about their channel performance, whether it is dropping significantly. Besides, it refers them to info pages and provides “how to improve” methods.

According to YouTube, “Many metrics are available, and we know it can sometimes seem complex and hard to piece together. We’re running an experiment where we show some creators a mobile data story card if their viewership is dipping and ways to improve.”

The experimented alerts will simplify the channel analytics, so creators don’t get bogged down in the data. However, they are still alerted to significant concerns that could impact channel performance.

Therefore, more creators will keep on track, which could also become a critical reminder that creators rely on to keep on top of such issues.

Updated format for the channel navigation bar on mobile

YouTube also experimented to see the channel navigation bar moved from the top of the screen to beneath the channel header in the mobile app.

The updated format will move the navigation tabs below the primary channel image, which will keep the profile header on screen as you switch between the different tabs.

According to YouTube, this will help viewers to ‘stay in the context of the channel better’ while providing easier access to subscription and store options.

Regardless of how small it looks, these could be helpful updates that could have an enormous practical impact on channel management and engagement.

YouTube users are reporting errors with the cross-channel live redirect option

According to YouTube, some users have been getting errors with its cross-channel live redirect option launched last month.

Cross-channel live redirect enables creators to redirect their live audience to other channels.

YouTube says its redirects are not always working as they should in some settings. Given this, YouTube is removing the option for the moment as it works on a solution.

  • What makes Signal the most secured messenger?

What makes Signal the most secured messenger?

Over the past few years, Signal has been known for its significant secure and private atmosphere and wealth of features provided to its users.

The reason is that Signal chats are end-to-end encrypted; neither Signal, your phone company, nor the government can read the messages you send and receive from other users.

How does the “end-to-end encryption” process work?

The process works by encoding a sender’s message so that only the intended receiver’s device can unlock it.

The encryption itself isn’t a unique feature. Messaging Apps like iMessage, Telegram, and Whatsapp all do it. But unlike other apps, Signal’s source code is publicly available, so experts have been able to poke and prod at its defenses for years, strengthening it in the process.

On Signal, group chats are encrypted, too, which means that the Signal service has no record of your group memberships, group titles, group avatars, or group attributes.

The Beta version of Signal has a wealth of additional features

Signal has updated its features in a beta version to create “New Groups.” You can easily set up regular group chats or “Legacy Group” chats.

    Group features in Signal include:

    1. The ability to invite members via a group link or QR code;
    2. In-chat @mentions;
    3. Admin controls to edit group info, add& remove members, and adjust the disappearing message timer;
    4. The size limit of Signal groups is 1,000 members;

    Other Signal’s Key Features

    • Similar to other messaging apps, Signal is free on iPhone, Android, Mac, and PC. Users can also have one-to-one conversations to send pictures, videos, internet links, voice messages, etc. They can even send and react to messages with emojis, much like on Slack and Discord.
    • Signal users can lock the app with the same passcode or fingerprint scan normally used to lock their phone If they’re concerned about someone accessing the Signal app from their phone.
    • Signal requires a phone number to join the app. You can sign up with a Google voice number to keep yours private.  Apple users should visit their privacy settings within the app and turn off “Show Calls in Recents” to prevent their history from syncing with the cloud.
    • Users can also set their messages to disappear over time or photos after a single viewing.

In conclusion, Signal is the safest messenger where you can enjoy your private talks simultaneously; you’re given a wide range of tools to manage that privacy.

The Lock Screen gets more personal, beautiful, and helpful with iOS 16. With a new multilayered effect, the subjects of photos are artfully set in front of the time on the Lock Screen, creating a sense of depth. Users can also change the date and time look with expressive type styles and color choices

The Lock Screen features widgets that take inspiration from Apple Watch complications, making it easy to get information at a glance, such as upcoming calendar events, the weather, battery levels, alarms, time zones, Activity ring progress, and more.

A new Lock Screen gallery features a range of options for inspiration, such as Apple collections, which include Pride and Unity to celebrate special cultural moments; a Weather wallpaper to see live weather conditions as they change throughout the day; and an Astronomy wallpaper for views of the Earth, moon, and solar system.

Users can also create Lock Screens using their favorite emoji or color combinations. They can switch between their favorites with multiple Lock Screens with just a swipe.

Live Activity is a new feature that helps users stay on top of things that are happening in real-time, such as a sports game, workout, ride-share, or food delivery order, right from the Lock Screen.

Notifications have been redesigned to roll up from the bottom, ensuring users view their personalized Lock Screen.

    Find Balance with Focus

Focus is easier and more powerful to set up and now connects to the Lock Screen, offering users a way to tie a Lock Screen wallpaper and widgets to a particular Focus.

To activate a Focus, users can swipe to the corresponding Lock Screen; with Focus filters, apps like Calendar, Mail, Messages, and Safari can display only the content relevant to a user’s Focus, helping them find a better balance.

Family Photos with iCloud Shared Photo Library

iCloud Shared Photo Library gives families a new way to share photos seamlessly with a separate iCloud library that up to six users can collaborate on, contribute to, and enjoy. Users can share existing images from their libraries or share based on a start date or people in the pictures.

A user can also choose to send photos to the Shared Library automatically using a new toggle in the Camera app. Additionally, users will receive intelligent suggestions to share a photo that includes participants in the Shared Photo Library.

Every user in the Shared Photo Library has access to add, delete, edit, or favorite the shared photos or videos, which will appear in each user’s Memories and Featured Photos so that everyone can relive more complete family moments.

    Updates to Messages

Users can edit or recall recently sent messages, recover recently deleted ones, and mark conversations as unread so they can return to them later. Additionally, SharePlay is coming to Messages, allowing it to enjoy synced content like movies or songs and shared playback controls Messaging.

    New Tools for Mail

Now users can schedule emails ahead of time and are even given a moment to cancel delivery of a message before it reaches a recipient’s inbox; mail will detect if the user forgot to include an essential part of their message, such as an attachment.

Mail also includes the most significant overhaul to search and uses state-of-the-art techniques to deliver more relevant, accurate and complete results. Users see recent emails, contacts, documents, and links when they begin to search for emails.
Users can also resurface a message with Remind Later at any date and time. Follow Up suggestions automatically remind users to follow up on an email if they have not received a response.

Live Text and Visual Look Up Enhancements

Live Text uses on-device intelligence to recognize Text in images across iOS, and it is now expanding to include video. Users can pause a video on any frame and interact with the Text. Live Text also adds the ability for users to quickly convert currency, translate Text, and more.

Visual Look Up takes photos further by introducing a new feature that allows users to tap and hold on the subject of an image to lift it from the background and place it in apps like Messages. Visual Look Up also expands to recognize birds, insects, and statues.

Wallet Adds Apple Pay Later, Order Tracking, and Other Features

Apple Pay Later provides users in the US with a seamless and secure way to split the cost of an Apple Pay purchase into four equal payments spread over six weeks, with zero interest and no fees of any kind.

Built into Apple Wallet and designed with users’ financial health in mind, Apple Pay Later makes it easy to view, track, and repay Apple Pay Later payments within Wallet. Users can apply for Apple Pay Later when checking out with Apple Pay or Wallet.

Apple Pay Later is available everywhere. Apple Pay is accepted online or in-app, using the Mastercard network. With Apple Pay Order Tracking, users can receive detailed receipts and order tracking information in Wallet for Apple Pay purchases with participating merchants.

Additionally, users can securely share their home, hotel, office, and car keys in Wallet through messaging apps, including Messages, Mail, etc.

    The Next Generation of CarPlay

CarPlay has fundamentally changed the way people interact with their vehicles, and the next generation of CarPlay goes even further by profoundly integrating with a car’s hardware. CarPlay will be able to provide content for multiple screens within the vehicle, creating an experience that is unified and consistent.

Deeper integration with the car will allow users to control the radio or change the climate directly through CarPlay. CarPlay will seamlessly render the instrument cluster’s speed, fuel level, temperature, and more using vehicle data.

Users will be able to personalize their driving experience by choosing different gauge cluster designs.

With added support for widgets, users will have at-a-glance information from Weather and Music right on their car’s dashboard. More details on the next generation of CarPlay will be shared in the future, and vehicles will start to be announced late next year.

    Additional Features

    • Safari adds shared Tab Groups to share a collection of websites with friends and family, making it seamless to add tabs and see what others view.

Browsing in Safari is even safer with passkeys, unique digital keys that are easy to use, more secure, never stored on a web server, and stay on a device so hackers can’t steal them in a data breach or trick users into sharing them.

Designed to replace passwords, passkeys use Touch ID or Face ID for biometric verification, and iCloud Keychain sync across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV with end-to-end encryption.

They will also work across apps and the web and users can sign in to websites or an app on non-Apple devices using just their iPhone.

    • Apple Maps is introducing multistop routing, so users can plan up to 15 stops in advance and automatically sync routes from Mac to iPhone when they’re ready to go.

Maps are also bringing transit updates to users, making it easy for riders to view how much their journey will cost, add transit cards to Wallet, see low balances, and replenish transit cards without leaving Maps.

    • Family Sharing offers an easier way to set up an account for a child with the proper parental controls.

It includes suggestions for age-appropriate restrictions for apps, movies, books, music, and more and a more straightforward process for setting up a new device that applies existing parental controls automatically. When a child asks for more screen time, guardians can approve or decline Messages.

    • Dictation offers a new on-device experience that allows users to move between voice and touch fluidly.

Users can type with the keyboard, tap in the text field, move the cursor, and insert QuickType suggestions without needing to stop Dictation. In addition, Dictation features automatic punctuation and emoji dictation.

    • Siri adds the ability to run shortcuts as soon as an app is downloaded without requiring an upfront setup.

Users can add emojis when sending a message, choose to send messages automatically — skipping the confirmation step — and hang up the phone and FaceTime calls completely hands-free by simply saying, “Hey Siri, hang up.”

    • The Home app makes it easier for users to navigate, organize, and view their accessories. Enhancements to the underlying architecture offer users more efficient and reliable control of their smart home.

A software update to iOS 16 will support the Matter smart home connectivity standard once it becomes available later this fall, enabling various accessories to work together seamlessly across platforms, helping fulfill the true vision of a smart home.

    • The Fitness app is available to all iPhone users to help track and meet fitness goals, even if they don’t have an Apple Watch. iPhone users can set up a daily Move goal in the Fitness app and see how their active calories help close their Move ring.

iPhone motion sensors can track steps, distance, flights climbed, and workouts from third-party apps, which can be converted into an estimation of active calories to contribute to users’ daily Move goal. Users can also share their Move ring with friends for additional motivation.

    • The Health app adds Medications, allowing users to conveniently build and manage a medications list, create schedules and reminders, and track their medications, vitamins, or supplements.

In the US, users can point their iPhone camera at a label to add a drug, read about their pills, and receive an alert if potential critical interactions exist for their medicines.

In addition, users can share their Health data with loved ones and easily create a PDF of available health records from affiliated health institutions right from the Health app.

    • Apple News introduces a new My Sports section to follow favorite teams and leagues easily; receive stories from hundreds of top publishers; access scores, schedules, and standings for the ultimate professional and college leagues; and watch highlights in the News app.
    • Game Center features a redesigned dashboard that shows friends’ Activities and accomplishments from games in one place, making it easy for players to jump in to play with or compete against their friends.
    • Personalized Spatial Audio enables an even more authentic and immersive listening experience. Listeners can use the TrueDepth camera on iPhone to create a personal profile for Spatial Audio that delivers a listening experience tuned just for them.
    • A new privacy tool called Safety Check can be helpful to users whose personal safety is at risk from domestic or intimate partner violence by quickly removing all access they’ve granted to others.

It includes an emergency reset that helps users rapidly sign out of iCloud on all their other devices, reset privacy permissions, and limit messaging to just the device in their hand. It also helps users understand and manage which people and apps they’ve given access to.

    • Accessibility updates include Door Detection, which helps users who are blind or have low vision to use their iPhone to navigate the last few feet to their destination, and Apple Watch Mirroring for users with physical and motor disabilities who may rely on assistive features like Voice Control and Switch Control to control Apple Watch from their iPhone fully.

Additionally, Live Captions make it easier for the Deaf and hard of hearing community to follow along while on a phone or FaceTime call, using a videoconference or social media app, streaming media content, or having a conversation with someone next to them.

When iOS 16 will be available to download?

The developer preview of iOS 16 is available to Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com starting now, and a public beta will be available to iOS users next month at beta.apple.com.

  • Saudi’s PIF buys $1bn stake in Sweden’s Embracer gaming group

Saudi’s PIF buys $1bn stake in Sweden’s Embracer gaming group

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is taking a stake in Swedish video game maker Embracer one month after investing in Japan’s video game giant Nintendo.

Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund made its fourth investment in the gaming sector so far this year.

PIF is investing $1 billion to purchase 99.9 million B-shares in Embracer. It is investing in its own Savvy Gaming Group (a gaming and e-sports group PIF set up in January).

Brian Ward (below), CEO of Savvy Gaming Group, said, “The Embracer team has built a truly unique and leading ecosystem of entrepreneurs and creators at a scale which we believe will continue to generate enormous value for the games community in the coming years,”

As part of Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification, Last month, the $500-billion sovereign wealth fund acquired a 5.01 percent stake in Japanese gaming company Nintendo.

The Nintendo stake follows the PIF’s recent disclosure of stakes in two other Japanese gaming companies – Nexon and Capcom, which the fund disclosed in February.

“Savvy Gaming Group will enable us to set up a regional hub in Saudi Arabia, from which we can make investments across the MENA region, organically, via partnerships, joint ventures, or via acquisitions of companies led by strong entrepreneurs.” Lars Wingefors, founder and chief executive of Embracer, commented.

“I think it’s an investment spree to diversify their portfolio out of oil and energy,” Nazih Fares, head of communications and localization at 4 Winds Entertainment, a games publisher, said.

“But when you compare it to the rest of the Gulf, especially UAE, the Saudi funds are in general a bit late on making an international impact on their ‘brand.’ Look at all the big football and other sports teams sponsored by UAE or Qatari brands, for example.”

Resume “the rush to get to that level for Saudi Arabia will take longer, but “investing directly in big brands will help catch up on that diversification of revenue generated by those same international companies.”

“The $1 billion investment is part of its strategy to have a diverse range of forward-looking shareholders who support its long-term business plans,” Fares explained.

Over the past few years, Saudi-based entities have become one of the most significant investors in the global gaming market. The games market in MENA is one of the world’s fastest-growing, with $5.7 billion in 2021 revenues and more active gamers than either the US or Western Europe.

Lars Wingefors said, “The largest country in this market, by far, is Saudi Arabia, and having visited Saudi Arabia, I have seen the gaming community and the opportunities firsthand,”

According to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Gaming consumption in Saudi Arabia is estimated to reach $6.8 billion by 2030.

BCG report stated, “These figures point to plenty of untapped potential as more young Saudis pursue careers in game development, management, and esports competition,”

It is worth mentioning that Last year, the PIF boosted its stake in US video game maker Activation Blizzard to $15.9 billion.

“The gaming ecosystem in the MENA region is exciting on several levels, primarily due to the sector’s expansion mechanics and growth velocity – we are experiencing sustained year-on-year growth to the tune of CAGR 15.8 percent.” Matthew Pickering, CEO of Power League Gaming (gaming and esports agency).

Combined with a youthful, hyper-engaged regional population with fast tech adoption rates and high levels of mobile penetration, this presents “exciting opportunities for further sustained development and provision of experiences by agencies and publishers alike to deliver value for gamers and brand partners and sponsors alike.”

  • How to recover a hacked Facebook account?

How to recover a hacked Facebook account?

No matter how secure your Facebook account, you could get hacked because someone somehow gets a hold of your password.

Since people often use Facebook to log in to other accounts, it could be terrible to get hacked because if someone gets into your Facebook account, they might have access to a bunch of your other social media, Emails, business, or bank account.

In this article, we’ll show you how to avoid it and ensure your hacked account is fully recovered.

In case your account is hacked

Now Your account is being “hacked,” troubles will start; your hacker might begin sending messages on your behalf, posting as you, or using your account for malicious purposes.

If you still can log in, here’s what to do:

The first step is, Change your password if you still have the power to do so. If you can’t log in, request a password reset. If that doesn’t work, someone may have changed the email address on the account. There’s a way of dealing with that, too.

The second thing to do is to Report the weird behavior to Facebook, so they can help stop it from happening to others.

Go to your security settings, and see if you recognize everywhere you are logged in. If you don’t recognize a location or a device, press the three-dot menu, and select “not you?”. This will log you out and will help you further secure your account.

Now Check that you recognize all apps and websites that have access to your Facebook account. Same as above; if there’s something you don’t recognize, press “remove.”

Check the email addresses Facebook has listed for you in your general settings. If there’s anything there that isn’t yours, remove it.

Now that you know hackers don’t have access to your account anymore Change your password one more time; the new password should be secure (with letters, numbers, and special characters).

Don’t re-use your password from somewhere else. Ideally, use a password manager to ensure that you can keep track of all your different passwords and use higher-quality passwords in general.

Turn on two-factor authentication so that even if your password was somehow stolen, they can’t log in without also having access to your phone or your authenticator app.

Finally, change your email password whenever something weird happens to your security and social media.

It’s terrible to lose access to your social accounts. Still, your email is the holy grail for hackers, so rotating that password regularly (every 1-3 months) and changing it whenever something strange happens is a well-guaranteed plan.

How to avoid getting your Facebook account hacked?

You may get a Messenger message from a friend on Facebook, saying something like “OMG, did you see who died?” with a link. You click on the link, and it looks like Facebook, but suddenly you’re being asked to log in again.

You think nothing of it and type in your email and password; the Problem is the site that you just gave your password to isn’t actually Facebook, and now they have your password.

So be careful and don’t do it this is the most common way that a Facebook account is compromised is by tricking you into giving the hackers your password.

To avoid this, follow the steps above and turn on two-factor authentication, then be vigilant whenever you log in, are you logging into a site that starts with https://www.facebook.com? If not, if it looks like something like ffacebook.com or facebook.this-is-a-security-notification.com, don’t type in your password.
Typically, the safest thing is manually typing in Facebook.com into your URL bar if you’re using a web browser.
Keep in mind that the Facebook app has a browser built-in, so that you may be in the Facebook app, but it could ask you for a password; this is a scam because if you’re already in the app, why would it ask you to log in? So if it seems suspicious, then it is, don’t type in your password.
Check the apps that have access to your Facebook account regularly. If you recognize an app but haven’t used it in a while and don’t think you’ll need it, delete it.

According to PayPal, only select U.S. PayPal users can now take advantage of the new feature, but the company said it would be available to everyone in the U.S. in the coming weeks.

Jose Fernandez da Ponte, SVP and general manager of blockchain, crypto, and digital currencies at PayPal, said, “This feature was the most demanded from our users since we began offering the purchase of crypto on our platform.”

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin have indeed proven resilient. Investor interest, both retail and institutional, in digital currencies has risen dramatically in recent years.

Fernandez da Ponte added that PayPal is moving in this direction “as people are [still] adopting cryptocurrencies.”

Users who transfer their digital assets or exchange them into PayPal can use them for purchases.

PayPal users can choose the “Checkout with Crypto” option when shopping with eligible retailers to use crypto to fund the transaction.

Charging network fees depend on the type of transfer that customers do:

    • If external transfer, customers are responsible for network fees when they do external transfers, which rely on the blockchain and vary depending on the crypto asset.
    • If internal transfers: — PayPal to PayPal — customers aren’t responsible for fees.

“If users have crypto somewhere else and want to consolidate, they can bring it to PayPal from external addresses,” Fernandez da Ponte. “They can also send crypto to anyone in the PayPal system.”

How To transfer crypto from an external wallet to PayPal?

It’s an easy process, just as follows:

    1. Users need to navigate to the cryptocurrency section of the PayPal app and choose which asset they’d like to transfer.
    2. Select “receive” and complete the required ID verification steps.
    3. Place the unique PayPal address into the external wallet from which you’re sending the crypto, and initiate the transfer.
      • Note: be sure to double-check that the address is correct. An incorrect address will result in the irrecoverable loss of the coin you’re trying to send.
      • PayPal’s wallet address is unique, meaning a new one is generated each time you want to transfer a coin to PayPal.

How to send Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, or Litecoin from PayPal to external wallets?

Use the same steps mentioned above. And while PayPal won’t charge a fee for transferring tokens, network fees will still apply.

Just choose “send” rather than “receive,” and you’re good to go. Similarly, use the same “send” button to transfer crypto to other PayPal users within the app.

“Allowing PayPal customers the flexibility to move their crypto assets (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, or Litecoin) into, outside of, and within our PayPal platform reflects the continuing evolution of our best-in-class platform and enables customers to interact with the broader crypto ecosystem,” the company said in the press release.
