Coca Cola Egypt World Cup campaign social media review

Coca-Cola Egypt World Cup Campaign, featuring Wael Gomaa, “Defense player in Egypt’s national team & Al Ahly club,” became the most trending ad in Egypt since it was published on March 13th, with over 2 million views on YouTube.

Introducing the Coca-Cola Egypt World Cup Campaign concept: After the disappointing loss of 6-1 against Ghana in the world cup 2014’s qualifications, the mission has become difficult for the World Cup sponsors like Coca-Cola to reach people’s minds. Egyptians were revoked after the loss. Hence, Coca-Cola thought to hit hard on the negative side of the story & turn it into a positive. Let’s discover what they’ve done and analyze the Coca-Cola Egypt World Cup Campaign from different perspectives together.

Coca-Cola Egypt’s ad featuring Wael Gomaa; Why?

Coca-Cola always plays well on emotions, knows how to gain people’s attention, and in the last decade, Coca-Cola’s BIG wins were through simple ideas + music, this time Coca-Cola Egypt decided to play it differently with the creative director Tameem Youness:

    [tie_list type=”checklist”]

    • There was a negative fact: The knockout from the world cup’s qualifications.
    • Get people connected with A football star who participated in the loss. “Defense player is preferred because of the heavy score” has charisma & rarely seen in ads. He should be “Wael Gomaa,” indeed.
    • Get people back to the Ad “creatively”: Egyptians love comedy, so when a tough character like Wael Gomaa gets involved in any comedy show, he will gain a BIG LOL or an EPIC FAIL — That is what Tameem Youness has been able to understand from the beginning “Wael Gomaa tough look” is the key, Football players aren’t representative and bad when it comes to voice over, so he relied on the ” TOUGH LOOK,” succeeded to turn it into a fun scene without a word from Wael. Well done, Tameem. Also, we have to recognize the amazing voice-over because, without it, the ad wouldn’t hit that big.
    • The Light: The world cup is still on, and you will be watching it regardless of the knockout
    • Positive result: You can travel to Brazil and watch the world cup
    • The Promise: Whether Egypt is in or out of the world cup 2014, you will be special & happy with Coca Cola

    [/tie_list]

Coca-Cola Egypt Social Media Strategy to Deliver The Promise:

The YTC has been able to generate +2 million views on YouTube, but it’s not everything. Coca-Cola worked hard & well on the campaign’s social media strategy to gain credibility over social networks and more…

    Twitter Activities:

The official Twitter account has played an important role in the Coca-Cola Egypt World Cup Campaign’s social media success by providing consistent activities every day.

    [tie_list type=”checklist”]

    • Engaging followers by asking daily questions about Egypt and where can be the coca-cola winning bottles
    • Spreading awareness by using the campaign hashtag & other popular “HAPPY” hashtags like Kashmagi
    • Building credibility by announcing winners’ names & photos on a daily basis

    [/tie_list]

That proves & delivers the Coca-Cola promise perfectly; well done, Coca-Cola, on Twitter, you deserve a medal.

  • Facts behind Egypt hashtags impressions and reach

Facts behind Egypt hashtags impressions and reach

Recently, a huge argument started in Egypt because of some political hashtags impressions and reach weight online — Unfortunately, both sides started to fake numbers and spread wrong analysis, sometimes based on their limited knowledge and sometimes else to gain political victories.

Since the argument started, we decided to not get involved in analyzing the hashtags because sides will point us randomly, however we do not belong to any political view. We believe that it’s our duty to reveal facts behind hashtags impressions and reach, and spread awareness.

Now let’s go in depth and reveal facts behind hashtags impressions and reach

We decided to explain a third metric which is “Interactions” which will link all ideas together and let you know what exactly happening online.

     Impressions and reach

    1- Impressions

“The fake metric as we can describe” Yes, it is a fake metric, because it gives you an estimation based on the engaged persons’ number of fans/followers NOT on who truly seen the content. Plus if you saw the same content twice, it will be counted as an extra impression, however it’s still the same person again!

Example (1): if you shared something on twitter or Facebook and you have 100K followers, so impressions will be 100K impressions, however you didn’t answer these questions: how many of your followers are online at that given moment? How many are really watching your tweets? The answer will be: No body knows!
So please don’t count this metric in, because you don’t know how to count it right!

Example (2): if a certain hashtag appeared to you and you started to watch it, impressions will  keep counting for you, however you are 1 person!

    2- Reach:

The number of unique people who saw a certain content in their news feed/timelines, this metric is the actual number of people who were online and content went through their eyes (however, they might not seen it) but it appeared in their streams while they were online.

Example: You’re now online and opening facebook/twitter, every single minute there’re dozen of posts/tweets are appearing in your timeline/news feed, but as a human, you won’t notice them if you’re concentrating in something else — Facebook & Twitter algorithms do not know that you’re concentrating in something else, but they know that you’re online now.

    3- Interactions:

Simply, how many people involved in the hashtag with a tweet, post, like, comment, reply, or share. People who are interacting with content, are interested in the topic by a way or another “accepting the idea or refusing it”, however people whom aren’t interacting, are really don’t care and not interested. So even if they saw it, they won’t talk about it. Finally, impressions and reach aren’t factors to measure online exposure perfectly, number of interactions yes.

Hope this is useful for you & thanks for reading — Please drop us a comment if you need any further explanation.

Sprite Egypt Salutes Mo Salah, Pepsi Responds

A new happy story for the Egyptian player Mohamed Salah has been written after scoring his 6th goal with Chelsea in London’s derby against Arsenal.

Mohamed Salah has rocked Chelsea on social media during his transfer in Jan, as Egyptians invaded the blues facebook page with pro-comments supporting Salah in his journey with the London club.

This brought everyone, especially brand to try to capitalize on Salah’s success in every occasion. Here’s an example for such news-jacking.

Pepsi and Sprite started a fight on social media over Mohamed Salah’s goal against Arsenal

War has been launched over Mohamed Salah’s popularity as Sprite Egypt (which belongs to Coca Cola) rides the wave and salutes Mohamed Salah on his goal, So Pepsi replied as the godfather of Mohamed.

Sprite Egypt salutes Salah on its way

    https://twitter.com/SpriteEgypt/status/447377641688268800?s=20

    Pepsi “who sponsors Mohamed” replied

    The ultimate winner is “Chelsea”

Chelsea knew it from the beginning, they got prepared quickly and very well, Chelsea knew that Mohamed  isn’t a normal football player, he will bring millions of Egyptian fans to the London club online, so that Chelsea made their mind fast and hired an Egyptian agency whom is currently managing the global Facebook page in Arabic.

March 2014, Chelsea has 1.3 million Egyptians likes, FYI, Egypt comes third after Indonesia and India in terms of number of fans on Facebook

Share you thoughts with us, do you think that MSalah topic is going to decline by time or grow much more?

  • Exclusive: Chelsea hires ‘Kijamii’, a Cairo-based digital agency to manage business in the Middle East

Exclusive: Chelsea hires ‘Kijamii’, a Cairo-based digital agency to manage business in the Middle East

Chelsea has hired Kijamii, a Cairo-based digital media agency following the explosive growth rate of Egyptians invading the club’s Facebook page after Mo Salah’s move to the blues.

Few weeks ago, we advised Chelsea and other big four to start looking for digital media agencies from Egypt to communicate, engage, and promote the club in Arabic.

Mo Salah appeared in a video on Chelsea Facebook page announcing that the club will start soon communicate in Arabic on Facebook.

Chelsea +1 million fans from Egypt

As we’ve mentioned in the previous study last month, Egypt has the most active Facebook users on Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal Pages and here you go the ranking one month ago as following:

    big four in Egypt

Verbatim from Egyptians’ reactions on Mohamed Salah’s video message

Chelsea Hired Egyptian Agency by Salah

Actually, we would like to thank Chelsea for the great step, this’s considered as one of the most quick professional actions, tells us how professional Chelsea’s online team is, and how wise their predictions to the future. Hiring Egyptian agency isn’t easy because the market in Egypt isn’t still mature to manage such big accounts, i believe that Chelsea went through a sophisticated market analysis to reach a professional agency here in Egypt. Now Chelsea has a huge opportunity to invade the Egyptian market and become the most loved big four team for Egyptians and oust Man UTD.

Why other big four teams have to follow Chelsea’s steps?

    • Egypt is a key market to access the Middle East and the Arab world.
    • Egypt has 18 million registered Facebook users, and around 12 million active users.
    • Egyptians are into the European tournaments, especially the English premier league.
    • Average 25% of the big four pages’ monthly growth is coming from Egypt.

We encourage Arsenal, Man UTD and Liverpool to take the same step and start engaging in Arabic.

  • Remembering a Loved One: Steps to Memorialize a Facebook Profile

Remembering a Loved One: Steps to Memorialize a Facebook Profile

Facebook has provided a limited set of tools to empower the close circles of individuals who have passed away, allowing them to influence how their loved ones’ profiles are presented on the social network.

These tools encompass the ability to delete or memorialize profiles, restrict photo and life event privacy to friends, control profile search visibility for friends and non-friends, and even create special “look back” videos upon request to commemorate those who have passed.

To initiate the memorialization process for a Facebook profile, individuals can conveniently fill out a designated form. Verified immediate family members hold the privilege to request the removal of a loved one’s Facebook account.

    1. To memorialize someone’s profile, you can fill out this form.
    2. Verified immediate family members may request the removal of a loved one’s account from Facebook.

Facebook is responsive to user feedback, particularly in cases involving the loss of a friend or family member, where memorializing the deceased’s timeline is often sought. Recognizing the sensitivity of this process, Facebook has undertaken a comprehensive review of its approach to memorialization.

In a significant policy change, Facebook now preserves the visibility of a memorialized profile’s content as it was during the individual’s lifetime, respecting their privacy choices. This allows extended family and friends to continue accessing content according to the departed person’s expectations.

Moreover, Facebook has introduced the option to create commemorative “look back” videos for those who have passed away. This service is easily accessible by submitting a request to Facebook, and the platform will execute the task promptly.
